When I was in Singapore last year, on the first afternoon my friend and I wandered into a small local deli in the quiet residential neighbourhood of Katong. While she went off to find the herbal tea she had come to look for, I wandered around checking out the products on the shelves… and there, a million miles from home, between a sea of unfamiliar products was a familiar label: NoMU.
NoMU Brands was created by lapsed professional caterer Tracy Foulkes in Cape Town South Africa. What started as an experiment in packing some of her own key blends and products, used in most of her catering, gained a huge amount of traction once it was branded as NoMU, and within a year Tracy was already shipping international orders. NoMU has since then carved out and retained a notable edge and reputation in the South African food industry for leading food branding and innovation with their range of spices, seasonings and more.
The multi award-winning range of products now ranges from vanilla paste and extract, to a variety of hot chocolates, spice blends, dippers, rubs, grinders, instant pesto, a set of super-concentrated liquid stocks called ‘FONDS’, olive oils – and most recently, baking kits. NoMU has also recently ventured into publishing, and in 2013 released their very popular range of recipe cards in a RECIPE BOX format, combining modern convenience and style with an oddly sentimental and more tactile practicality.
Apart from being long-time supporters of the Indaba and sponsoring items for the goodie bags again this year, NoMU have also partnered with us to reward some of the people buying tickets for the 2014 Indaba. Starting from today, every 5th ticket sold will come with a R100 NoMU voucher, which the lucky ticket holder can spend online at their beautiful virtual shop. So what are you waiting for – get your Indaba ticket today and have a chance of winning R100 to spend with NoMU!
And if that’s not persuaded you to attend yet, have you seen our funky venue?
