Finally, here I am. After suffering a couple of setbacks with logo design and the blog that was set up for me being erroneously closed by the host while the designer was away on holiday, it has been a bit of a trying time. But here I am! And I have learned that the bartering system is alive and well between bloggers and graphic design artists 🙂
May I take this opportunity, with the opening of this blog at the beginning of this new year, to wish each and every one of you an awesome and successful 2011. I took the photograph below, of the last sunset of 2010, from one of the viewpoints on Chapmans Peak Drive on old year’s eve.
I had a great year last year! I learned so much, and grew so much, I stepped out from the familiar comfort of my regular zone, into the unknown and it has opened up a whole new world of experiences for me. And I am happy!! I have met and befriended some of the most amazing people through my blogging and organizing of blog conferences. Who knew that the shy, anti-social browniegirl, who hid behind the annonymity of a blog name, would find the strength and courage to step out into the limelight as she has done? Not me, that’s for sure…it was a huge surprise…still is!
But I am so glad that I did, and for the past few months I have been working away behind the scenes to put together the next food and wine bloggers conference. I asked for followers on twitter to come up with a new name that I could use for my conference – a name that wasn’t quite as formal as conference – and Juno from Scrumptious South Africa blog, who is also going to be one of the fabulous speakers at fbi2011, suggested Indaba which I immediately adopted as the new name. Reminds me, I owe Juno a cake!! That bartering system I mentioned….
Anyway….this was just an introduction to the new blog and the next post will announce the next food and wine blogger indaba to be held in Cape Town next month…watch this space!
